Our Impact
Making A Difference in Our County
University of Georgia Cooperative Extension is working hard for its constituents. The following are examples of Extension’s impact in the county over the past year.
Agriculture and Natural Resources
In 2024, Rabun County Agriculture and Natural Resources reached
over 3,052 participants through 1,291 consultations and 64 site visits.
ANR also made a significant contribution to six ongoing research
projects. Master Gardener fundraising efforts brought in $27,500 to
benefit local nonprofits, and 932 volunteer hours were logged. In
2024, 163 diagnostic soil and water tests were performed.?
4-H Youth Development
4-H provides monthly science, language arts, and history lessons to over
300 elementary students. Youth also participated in 4-H through in-
school club meetings, after-school activities like cupcake decorating
contests, summer camp, specialty clubs like County Council, and
competitions like Project SAFE Shotgun, District Trivia, and Project
Achievement.
