Our Impact
Making A Difference in Our County
University of Georgia Cooperative Extension is working hard for its constituents. The following are examples of Extension’s impact in the county over the past year.
Agriculture and Natural Resources
Agriculture and use of White County's natural resources are still the number one drivers of White County's economy. From growing grapevines to raising livestock to preserving the fresh waters of the Chattahoochee River, White County Extension Agent Nathan Eason is engaged at all levels of production and management. White County's ANR program serves to assist all property owners within White County;? this valuable resource stems from the University of Georgia College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences to help landowners make wise management decisions and to optimize the best use of their land while incorporating land conservation practices.? Extension agents help troubleshoot issues in the field with the assistance of trained specialists from the college to get answers quickly.
Extension Agent? Eason continues to focus on water quality conservation programming. He allocated $136,000 in grant funding to farmers to implement practices to improve their water quality. He conducts vineyard research, investigates niche farming opportunities, assists with livestock and hay land producers and meets the needs of residential and small landowners. Clientele can email, call, schedule an office visit or arrange for an on-site property visit to meet their individual needs. 禁漫天堂 Extension also offers a wide array of lab services including drinking and recreational water testing, feed and forage analysis, soil testing/reporting, and more. We look forward to serving White County and helping you with your needs.?

4-H Youth Development
?4-H Agent Rachel Martin has had another great year of attendance in all 4-H program areas.? She works alongside Kinsey Youngblood, our 4-H Program Assistant, to conduct youth programming to all ages within the school system.
Programs focus on healthy living, gardening, leadership development, STEM activities, character development, and more. White County took thirty-five 4-H'ers to the 4-H Summer Camp located at? Jekyll Island for the first time, and over 80 youth participated in one or more programs. As always, we continue to look for opportunity to reach even more youth in the county and to help grow these youth into productive and valued citizens.
